ABOUT
The objective of this project is to create a communal story telling space to explore non sexual, and self-affirming love.
Our
Experience
Because all people crave love, we are susceptible to manipulation by seeking constant affirmation from outside our self’s. Our response to this was to design a virtual experience that shines a critical light on this potential manipulation. In our project we explore this through the concept of love bombing.
Love bombing is a form of psychological and emotional abuse that involves a person or a group giving a victim intense affection in an effort to manipulate them. It can be related to personal relationships or cult indoctrination.
The experience flows from introducing love bombing as its dangers, then moves to our proposed solution of the memory gallery.
The
Gallery
The hero of the project is a virtual, archival, gallery where we ask participants to donate objects that represent a deep connection to non-sexual, self affirming love.
The gallery offers a potential way out of the cycle of manipulation codependent love can bring. By exploring artifacts linked to individual stories about love from another perspective, we hope to help the participant to reflect on what stories they have that can bring a more internal and closer understanding of love.
